A Cannock Chase resident took this photograph during a particularly bad downpour. She claimed the creature fell out of the sky and landed in her garden. Not recognizing the species, and perplexed by the origin of this alien-looking beast, I was contacted. Luckily, thanks to great minds like DR Karl Shuker, the creature was soon identified as a Hawk-moth Caterpillar.
